Beyond the Label

“Bardolino is a wine that should no longer be taken lightly,” according to JancisRobinson.com. (Unless you take yours lightly chilled, that is.) And Roccoloro offers gorgeous proof.

This fine Bardolino hails from northern Italy’s iconic Cantina Valpolicella Negrar—which rose to fame as the world’s original Amarone producer—and expert winemaker Daniele Accordini. Daniele and his team sourced the grapes from prime plots in Bardolino Classico, home to the region’s best vineyards, near picturesque Lake Garda.

A traditional blend of Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella (which also star in Amarone), Roccoloro shows a beautifully bright ruby color in the glass. Look forward to fresh red berry aromas and flavors, with subtle black pepper and wild herb notes. The palate is light and exuberant—this is the kind of red you can chill in the fridge for sipping on warm days. It’ll also be delicious with everything from pasta to pizza, chicken to salmon.
