Saracosa Governo Rosso is the luxury edition of Saracosa, Barbanera family’s flagship Super Tuscan. Crafted by the family’s award-winning winemaker, Sofia Barbanera, it brims with luscious cherry and vanilla notes, and is a serious treat for lovers of any super-rich red.
After the immense success of Saracosa—one of our best-selling and most popular Italian reds—Sofia was inspired to create a wine with even greater depth, complexity and flavor concentration. And boy, did she deliver.
She turned to Tuscany’s historic governo method and allowed a portion of her ripe Sangiovese to air dry for 20 days. This process dials the flavor concentration and complexity of the wine way, way up. Blending in some Merlot then imparted a soft, plummy smoothness and time aging in oak barrels weaved inviting spice notes throughout.
