Selvarossa dei Confratelli Riserva 2021

Flavor Profile
Selvarossa dei Confratelli Riserva is a sumptuous red wine from Francesco Fortunato Maci, the grandson of top winemaker Angelo Maci, the mastermind behind many of our best-selling Italian wines. Brimming with luscious cherry, currant and toasty oak flavors, it’s a real treat for lovers of rich, indulgent reds.
It’s crafted in Puglia, Italy, at the Maci family's renowned Cantine Due Palme estate, a three-time Vinitaly Italian Winery of the Year, as well as the winner of Gambero Rosso’s Cooperative Cellar of the Year in 2021 and 2023.
This wine hails from Puglia’s Salice Salentino zone—one of southern Italy's most respected sub-regions, known for hot days and red, baked-clay soils. The team craft Selvarossa with native grapes Negroamaro and Malvasia Nera—both grown on alberello-trained bush vines (a local tradition Angelo helped save from extinction). After drying a third of the Negroamaro grapes, which concentrates flavors, they aged the wine in fine oak barrels. Then, they let the wine rest in bottle until they were certain it was drinking perfectly.
Look forward to intense aromas of cherry compote, fig and vanilla spice. On the lush, concentrated palate, red cherry and currant flavors mingle with smooth oak notes. An ideal choice for braised or roasted meats, as well as hearty pasta dishes.
Angelo normally reserves this special wine only for his friends at Cantine Due Palme, but because of your longtime support, he’s decided to share a few precious cases with our customers. You’ll want to act quickly to secure your share.
