Beyond the Label

"Some of the greatest Spanish wines I have ever tasted come from this region. Not Rioja, not Priorat, but Ribera del Duero."
—Neal Martin, The Wine Advocate

Now, it’s your turn for a taste of Ribera del Duero excellence with this gorgeous 100% Tempranillo.

Senda de los Olivos hails from the renowned Bodegas Zifar (which regularly wins 90+ point scores and top awards for its boutique wines) and 20-year winemaking veteran Bequer Prieto Castro. Bequer and his team prune the Tempranillo vines, harvest the grapes and select the best bunches all by hand. Although more labor and cost intensive, this ‘everything done by hand approach’ ensures top quality from vine to glass.

In the winery, Bequer treated the Tempranillo to 12 months in fine French oak barrels. This imparted toasty vanilla and leather notes to the wine’s dark berry and licorice flavors—which are beautifully vibrant, thanks to the tiny, concentrated grapes produced by the low-yielding vines. And we’re not the only ones who are impressed...

This fine Tempranillo was rated 92 points by critic James Suckling, the ABC Wine Buying Guide, and Guía Peñín (Spain’s top wine guide). Gilbert & Gaillard judges gave it 90 points and wrote, “Crisp nose of ripe red and black berry fruits with subtle oak undertones and floral presence. The tannins show poise...Lovely fullness, charm and delicacy.”

A great bottle to pull out at your next tapas night. Secure your share today.
