The Black Stump is an Australian legend that wins legions of raving fans and major acclaim from critics and competitions across the globe. We were thrilled when winemaker Alan Kennett (winner of the Jimmy Watson Trophy, Australia’s top wine prize) decided to make this limited-edition Reserve version from old, low-yielding vines grown in the renowned Clare Valley and McLaren Vale regions.
The gnarled heirlooms offer precious little fruit, but the grapes they do produce pack a serious punch of rich, concentrated flavor. Back in the winery, Alan ages the wine in fine oak barrels that contribute subtle vanilla flavors..
