Valoroso means ‘valiant’—and this first-class Cab pays tribute to the ‘Comendadora’ title (aka ‘knighthood’) that fourth-generation proprietor Leonor Freitas was awarded by the Portuguese government for service to the wine industry. Her family’s estate was founded by Deonilde Freitas in 1920, and today its 210 hectares of vineyards produce some of the country’s finest wines. This is a gorgeous example crafted by Jaime Quendera,the winemaker behind the ‘Best Red Wine in the World’ (Vinalies Internationales, 2008).
Boasting a long history of acclaim, Valoroso is smooth, round and well balanced. Its ripe blackberry, plum and spice flavors make it a tasty match for beef, pork or other hearty meat dishes.
