Windswept Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

But don't worry, you'll find plenty more handpicked wines here.

California may be home to the most prestigious (and priciest) U.S. Cabernet, but savvy wine fans know that there are also gorgeous (and great-value) Cabs to be found in Washington state. Washington Cabernet is all about purity of fruit – while still rich and full-bodied, the wines boast a uniquely ripe and fresh character. If you’ve yet to try one, Windswept makes a perfect introduction.
Crafted by Napa-trained winemaker, Hal Landvoigt, Windswept is named for the breezes that sweep through Washington’s premium Columbia Valley. Their cooling influence helps keep grapes fresh and encourages the skins to thicken, which yields friendly tannins and structure in the wine. Hal really had his pick of premium Cab during the exceptional 2017 vintage – one of the best in recent memory, with hot, sunny days that yielded intensely ripe and concentrated fruit. No wonder the resulting wine won silver medals from three top American competitions.
Look forward to expressive aromas of blackberry, plum, and blueberry. The flavors follow on, with layers of dark fruit and subtle spice, thanks to a 10-month slumber in fine American and French barrels. Ripe and succulent, it’s a delicious match for hearty stews or beef dishes.
Our thirsty Cabernet fans will be very excited about this gorgeous find. Act quickly to avoid missing out.
