Clos de la Vierge Jurançon
The Jurançon is a small, scenic region at the foothills of the Pyrenees mountain in southwest France. Their sweet wines were once a favorite of royalty, but today it’s the rare dry white wines that are quietly becoming a favorite of wine insiders.
Crafting fine dry whites is nothing new for the Barrère family—they’ve been doing it for decades at their tiny estate, Domaine Barrère. Clos de la Vierge is their flagship white, made with Gros Manseng from their prized vineyard planted in the region’s traditional curved rows.
In the glass, it’s nervy and layered, with a depth of stone fruit, pineapple and fresh floral characteristics—nothing less than a total triumph. No wonder it’s sold out upon release two years in a row.
